Many Ohio hospitals have and are currently participating in statewide and national projects focused on reducing infections, both within and beyond hospital walls.
Central Line-Associated Blood Stream Infections
Ohio hospitals are participating in Ohio on the CUSP: Stop BSI, a national initiative to reduce central line-associated blood stream infections through the Ohio Patient Safety Institute.
C. diff
A statewide pilot program is underway to improve the surveillance and control of C.diff infections in Ohio acute care facilities. OHA is partnering with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),The Ohio State University Medical Center’s Division of Infectious Diseases and its CDC-funded Prevention Epicenter.
MRSA
Hospitals participated in an 18-month project to reduce MRSA infections by June 2010. This unique collaboration among health care providers and the business community formed as an outgrowth of OHA's hospital quality collaboratives program.

OHA Names New CEO
December 6, 2011:
Mike Abrams, Executive Vice President and CEO of the Iowa Medical Society, was announced as the Ohio Hospital Association’s next President and CEO. Abrams will begin his tenure in February, following the December 31 retirement of Jim Castle, OHA’s President and CEO for 23 years.
