Mini Residency Program
The OHA Mini Residency Program provides member hospitals the opportunity to cultivate relationships with their state legislators and educate them on how the hospital operates, what services it provides the local community and the pertinent issues facing hospitals across the state.
Mini Residencies typically consist of a hospital tour, discussion of issues among the legislator and senior management, and a lunch with hospital personnel, Board members and community leaders. Mini Residencies are usually held when the Ohio General Assembly is in recess and legislators are home in their districts, as they tend to have more time to devote to learning about local and complex issues.
OHA serves as a facilitator to customized the program for the hospital by identifying key legislators, such as those who sit on the Health, Insurance and Finance committees, and contacts hospitals located in those districts to host the half-day program. OHA also identifies significant legislative issues hospitals are encouraged to discuss with their legislators to educate them on the impact on their local hospitals.
