Critical Access Hospitals Designation as a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) is awarded to select small, rural hospitals and allows them to receive cost-based reimbursement for services provided to Medicare patients. To obtain this special status, each hospital underwent a survey conducted by the Ohio Department of Health on behalf of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid. To become a CAH, hospitals must provide 24-hour emergency services along with inpatient care, laboratory and radiology services. A CAH must have no more than 15 acute-care beds or 25 total beds and keep patients an average of 96 hours or less. The following Ohio hospitals are CAH-designated. For more information, please contact Heather Reed (hreed@gw.odh.state.oh.us) at the Ohio Department of Health. |
