To act as the representative body for hospital admitting and patient financial services functions to the OHA Board of Trustees, OHA staff and all OHA committees and task forces.  ABC members act as a sounding board on any association objective or position that relates to hospital admitting and patient financial services functions and as a representative body in meetings with any outside third-party payer or organization on hospital admitting or patient financial services responsibilities.

Within the context of OHA’s Mission, Vision and Strategic Direction, the purpose of the OHA Audit/Finance Committee is to:

Review the structure, activities and financing of the association.
Evaluate and make recommendations to the OHA Board to improve the effectiveness and financing of association activities.
Oversee the independent audit of OHA and its controlled corporations annual financial audits.
Recommend to the Board an annual budget and dues structure for OHA
Monitor OHA’s investment returns on surplus funds.

The OHA CEO Policy and Advocacy Committee is an opportunity for hospital CEOs to provide leadership, guidance and policy recommendations on issues important to the OHA membership.  The intent is to develop a proactive, valuable, interesting and enjoyable mechanism for deliberating OHA legislative and regulatory priorities, and establish policies that will help steer the organization as it advocates for a preferred future for health care delivery in the state of Ohio.

Friends of Ohio Hospitals is a political action committee (PAC) managed by the Ohio Hospital Association that collects contributions from members of the hospital community in Ohio. These contributions are in turn used to support state and federal lawmakers and other elected officials who advocate for our agenda. The strength of the PAC directly affects the ability of Ohio's hospitals to be leaders in public policymaking.

The purpose of the QI/A Committee is to assist the OHA Board of Trustees, OHA staff, and OHA members in regulatory and accreditation issues such as Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and Joint Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO); public policy initiatives such as legislation and rules promulgated by the professional licensure boards and the Ohio Department of Health; and quality improvement initiatives such as public reporting and managed care reporting requirements.  The Committee is a forum for sharing ideas, developing creative solutions and discussing challenging viewpoint.

The purpose of OHA’s Research and Educational Foundation is to organize the governance of the REF in order to focus more on research and grant-making activities.  The REF supports OHA members by conducting and disseminating research that improves the quality of care in hospitals and health systems, and by promoting educational programming.  The REF Board serves a large role in policy formulation and policy recommendations to the OHA Board in the area of quality improvement and patient safety.
