State Health Care
Issues
False Claims Act
Legislation
that would provide for the recovery of
damages and civil penalties for defrauding the state of money, property
or services in relation to the Medicaid Program is currently being
considered by the Ohio General Assembly. While OHA is committed to
fighting fraud in the Medicaid program and applauds any attempt to
eliminate fraud, waste and abuse, many of the proposals of House Bill
355 as introduced fail to accomplish that goal and instead duplicate
existing laws and add cost to the health care system.
