Aultman Hospital Provides Experience to High School Students
Barbara Patterson (left), a student at Sandy Valley High School in Stark County,
shows Aultman Hospital patient Kelly Bailey a nurse call devise as her nurse,
Darlie Owens, LPN, looks on. Patterson is a student in Aultman Hospital's Career
Academy, which offers 35 area high school students the opportunity to gain
hands-on experience in the hospital setting and gives them an advantage for
medical and nursing school and other health-related careers. The students report
to the hospital four days a week during the school year to learn about health
care and earn class credit. The students also participate in one-on-one
clinical, non-clinical and group classroom lessons at the hospital.
