Man's Best Friend Makes Bedside Visits
Susan Ertel and her dog Belle visit William Thompson while
he recovers from knee replacement surgery at Clinton Memorial Hospital. The
hospital has welcomed specially-trained dogs for the past decade, but has
recently added several new dog volunteers to bring joy to patients
struggling physically or mentally, or those simply looking for a canine
connection. Dog volunteers visit patients who have given their permission, but
the visit is not considered a formal part of their therapy.
