HOSPITAL VITAL SIGNS
While physicians, nurses and allied medical staff focus their attention on patients' vital signs, administrators attend to financial indicators. Medical professionals have EKGs, MRIs, blood flow and pulse to monitor. Administrators have days in accounts receivable, return on investment, cash flow and margins to watch. When the numbers aren't favorable, hospitals’ ability to provide quality care is in jeopardy.
Just as the latest medical technology can help doctors and nurses provide the best care, better financial analysis tools can help hospital financial professionals stay on top of financial viability and operate more effectively.
OHA has entered into an agreement with DataGen, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS), to create a model based on data from publicly available sources (HCRIS files)
to generate these analyses that incorporate bond rating benchmarks and peer groupings of select financial indicators.
Users can select from multiple peer
groupings, including bed size, to compare
hospital-specific measures by state and
national peers. Values for bond rating
agencies are also included.
