Influenza or "flu" is a
common occurrence every year in Ohio and considered
a very serious disease. Nationwide, influenza and
its complications cause approximately 36,000 deaths
and 226,000 hospitalizations annually according to
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Pneumococcal Pneumonia
is the most common complication associated with
influenza. Together flu and Pneumonia causes
over 2100 deaths annually
in Ohio, placing them among the top 10
causes of death in the state.
