Hospital Hero Lends Helping Hand

As photos and quotes testified to the dedication and leadership of this year’s Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year nominees, applause rippled through the sellout crowd in the ballroom of the Hilton at Easton. Physicians, CEOs, colleagues, family and friends joined OHA in celebrating the accomplishments of the 86 health care heroes— including nurses, physical therapists, maintenance supervisors and staff educators— who were nominated by their hospitals.

Every Ohio hospital was invited to nominate one person for this prestigious award, created in 1996 to recognize a hospital employee who demonstrates leadership, reflects the values and ideals of Ohio’s health care facilities, goes above and beyond the call of duty, gives back to the community and has overcome odds to succeed.

OHA presented the award and recognized four finalists in conjunction with the association’s Annual Meeting at the Hilton Columbus at Easton. OHA also honored all 86 nominees, not just the ultimate recipient, for being their hospital’s choice for this distinction.

Health Care Worker of the Year Award RECIPIENT
 «
Ryan Neville, OTR/L, MBA, CRDS, director of the rehabilitation center at Marietta Memorial Hospital, ignited the hospital with a vision that led it to becoming the second hospital in the state to be stroke accredited. Ryan has also been instrumental in developing several new services to benefit patients including a driver’s rehab program and Alive at 25 programs for young drivers. His commitment to the community extends beyond the hospital as Ryan educates the community on stroke prevention, works with his church’s youth group, serves on the city Disability Commission and is a member of the Young Emerging Leaders organization.
