Medical Malpractice Insurance Crisis
A Threat to Patient Access to Health Care

Medical malpractice insurance rates for hospitals and physicians have moderated but still remain near historical highs. While a combination of factors including enactment of tort reform and enhanced patient safety initiatives have improved availability and affordability, liability insurance rates remain high for important medical specialties such as obstetrics, neurosurgery, and emergency medicine.  The Ohio Hospital Association continues to work with other parties to monitor and recommend initiatives that promote access by the public to medical care that is safe, affordable and effective.
