Martin to Chair OHA Board

 

COLUMBUS—Ohio hospitals have elected a new Chair and Secretary/Treasurer as well as one new Trustee-At-Large and four district representatives to serve on the 2008 Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) Board of Trustees. 

 

The 2008 Chair is Kevin Martin, president and CEO of EMH Regional Healthcare System in Elyria.

 

Martin served as the Board’s Northeast District Representative from 2002-2004. He served as Secretary/Treasurer in 2006 and Chair-Elect in 2007. Martin joined EMH Regional Healthcare System in 1989 as assistant vice president of finance. In 1992, he became vice president of corporate finance. He then served as the interim chief operating officer until he was named president and CEO in 1998. Martin currently serves on the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Elyria Development, Cleveland Health Network and Center for Health Affairs boards. Martin graduated from Cleveland State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. In 1988, he received his master’s degree in accountancy and financial information systems from Cleveland State.

 

Next year’s Chair-Elect is Michael R. Stephens, president and CEO of Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia. Stephens served on the Board as a Trustee-At-Large from 2001-2003. He served as Secretary/Treasurer in 2007.

 

Stanley Korducki, president of Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green, was elected Secretary/Treasurer for the upcoming year. Korducki served on the Board as a Trustee-At-Large from 2004-2006.

 

The immediate Past Chair is William W. Harding, president and CEO of Union Hospital in Dover. Harding served as the Northeast District Representative to the Board in 1992-1993 and rejoined the Board in 2005 as Secretary/Treasurer. He served as Chair-Elect in 2006 and Chair in 2007.

 

Elected as Trustee-At-Large for a three-year term is Steve Allen, M.D., CEO of Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus.

 

Elected as District Representatives for three-year-terms are:

  • Northeast District Representative: Edward Roth, president and CEO, Aultman Hospital, Canton
  • Northwest District Representative: Charles Stark, FACHE, president and CEO, Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky
  • Central District Representative: Ronald Bachman, president and CEO, Marion General Hospital
  • Southwest District Representative: John Prout, president and CEO, TriHealth, Inc., a community partnership of Bethesda Hospital, Inc., and Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati

 

All 2008 Board terms begin Jan. 1, 2008. Board officer positions – Chair, Chair-Elect, Secretary/Treasurer and Past Chair – are one-year terms. Trustees-at-Large and District Representatives serve three-year-terms.

 

The OHA Board of Trustees sets policy and strategic direction for matters affecting hospitals throughout Ohio. The Board includes representatives from small and large hospitals, teaching facilities, and health care systems and consists of four officers, the OHA president, four District Representatives and up to 15 Trustees-At-Large.

 

The Ohio Hospital Association was established in 1915 and currently represents 170 hospitals and 40 health systems throughout Ohio.
