COLUMBUS – A small northeast Ohio hospital that has helped put its community
on the map for wellness initiatives is the 2008 recipient of the David
Hendershot Rural Health Promotion Award. Dunlap Community Hospital
received the award today from the Ohio Hospital Association’s Foundation for
Healthy Communities.

Saving Lives, Preventing Harm from Blood Thinners
The Ohio Patient Safety Institute (OPSI) and VHA, Inc. yesterday kicked off
a collaborative project with 46 hospitals and health systems across Ohio to
reduce life-threatening complications associated with anticoagulants – blood
thinners – which many patients take to prevent blood clots following a

Hospitals Support Physician Medicaid Increase,
Hospital Recalibration Delay
The Ohio Hospital Association (OHA) commends Gov. Ted
Strickland’s decision to indefinitely delay the planned recalibration of
Medicaid rates for hospitals and to provide physicians with their first
Medicaid update in seven years, effective July 1, 2008.
