Research and Educational Foundation The Research and Educational Foundation of the Ohio Hospital Association was founded in 1965. The REF is a not-for-profit organization governed by a fifteen person Board of Trustees elected by the OHA Board. Our mission: The Research and Educational Foundation provides leadership by conducting, funding and disseminating research that improves the quality of care in hospitals and health systems, and by promoting community health through grants and education. The REF services is the umbrella organization for the Foundation for Healthy Communities providing grants to qualifying recipients and grants to support community service projects. The REF engages in research activities to support members in the following areas:
