Why join OONE?

The Ohio Organization of Nurse Executives is an affiliated society of the Ohio Hospital Association, and is also affiliated with the American Organization of Nurse Executives.

OONE VISION:  We are an organization of nurse leaders serving as the catalyst for innovative healthcare in Ohio and the nation.  As the recognized center of excellence for clinical leadership, we improve healthcare through education, technology, research, consultation, networking and information sharing.

OONE MISSION:  OONE is recognized as the voice for nursing leaders in Ohio.

OONE is involved in shaping the future of health care in the state of Ohio through innovative leadership.  OONE is the voice of nursing leadership in health care.  OONE members serve as catalysts for innovation in health care agencies.  OONE promotes leadership excellence through professional development.  OONE supports research and provides leadership and advocacy to advance patient care and nursing practice.

Purpose:

  • OONE shall be the state organization for nursing leadership in health care that provides for nursing leadership development by:

  • Providing a forum for the interchange of ideas and dissemination of information and materials relative to nursing leadership;
  • Identifying and defining nursing, nursing education and health care issues;
  • Establishing and communicating position statements to influence legislative and public policy;
  • Developing and promoting educational programs/activities to strengthen nursing in education, administration, research and clinical practice;
  • Supporting systems for the advancement of healthy communities.

Membership Types and Eligibility
All members of OONE must be eligible for personal membership in the OHA. OONE membership shall consist of registered nurses, who may be full members, associate members, and honorary members.

Full Members
Registered Nurses holding an organizational role with administrative or management accountability, who are employed by an OHA organizational member.

Associate Members

 a.  Registered nurses who are not eligible to be full OONE members but whose role supports the vision, mission and goals of OONE and are employed by an OHA organizational member.

b.   Faculty in nursing administration and other administrative health care programs with shared/consistent philosophy and goals with OONE and are employed by:

1). 501(C)(3) corporation; or
2). Government entity; or
3). School of nursing attached to a hospital.

c.  Registered Nurses holding an organizational role with administrative or management accountability, who are employed by an OHA corporate partner.

Associate members may not hold a Board position.

Honorary Members
Honorary membership may be requested upon retirement or by nomination to, and action by, the OONE Board of Directors and has no membership fee.

Honorary members may not hold a Board position.

Honorary status is in recognition of outstanding individual contribution to nursing and nursing leadership in Ohio

Committees

Bylaws Committee
-reviews the Bylaws on a regular basis and recommends changes as necessary to meet OONE objectives.  This committee also reviews affiliate chapter bylaws and makes recommendations to the Board for affiliate chapter recognition.

Continuing Education Committee
-directs the Peer Review Process of the OONE Continuing Nursing Education Program.  This committee also reviews applications and grants approval according to established criteria.  Here is an application for the "Four Nursing Law Independent Study Programs" sponsored by OONE - complete your one hour of required nursing law CE in the convenience of your home or workplace.

Program Committee
-works to develop programs promoting leadership development and presents programs on nursing issues related to health care legislation and public policy.  This is the committee that plans and facilitates the annual conference.

Legislative and Practice Committee
-combines the previous Practice and Research Committee and the Legislative Committee. 

Responsibilities of this committee include: review legislation and participate in the advocacy efforts on behalf of OHA, recommend policy positions as requested, present testimony and meet with local legislators, develop policy statements regarding nursing practice issues on behalf of OONE, and publish/update a legislative manual.

Membership Committee
-works to design strategies to increase membership.  This is the committee that promotes OONE’s vision, goals and accomplishments
