Ohio Society
of Directors of Volunteer Services
The Ohio Society of Directors of Volunteer Services was organized in 1975 under the auspices of the Ohio
Hospital Association as a professional
organization for volunteer program administrators associated with Ohio
hospitals. It
provides an organized structure for the leaders of volunteer resources and
related programs to enhance their personal contribution to health care and
gain self-development opportunities.
Objectives include the following:

To
increase the knowledge and improve the skills of individual members.

To
provide a means of communication among volunteer program
administrators.
-
To
attract qualified volunteers to the vocation and to support them in retaining skilled
volunteers.
Membership
Eligibility
Membership is open to all individuals who are employed to manage a
volunteer program in a health care facility in an Ohio hospital that is an
OHA member. All members must be eligible for OHA personal
membership. A member shall be eligible to vote, hold office and apply for
certification status.

Certification
OSDVS
provides a certification process that is open to members meeting
stipulated criteria. Initial certification carries experience and
educational requirements and includes written and oral examinations.
Certified members are responsible for maintaining their certified status
through continuing education.

Spring Conference
The 2008
OSDVS Spring Conference
will be held May 9, 2008, at Quest Business Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Fall
Institute
The 2008 OSDVS Fall Institute will
be held October 16-17, 2008, at Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio. For
