Ohio Society for Healthcare Consumer Advocacy

Mission
The society promotes the advancement of health care consumer advocacy by providing leadership, education and support to our membership and by serving as a resource to professionals and consumers across the healthcare continuum.

Objectives

  • To promote continuing education in order to improve healthcare services.
  • To enhance the healthcare consumer advocate's skill as liaison between the consumer and healthcare providers.
  • To exchange information, ideas and experiences.
  • To increase community awareness regarding patient rights and consumer advocacy in healthcare.

Membership
Membership in the society is available to:  
Application Form

  • Active members - individuals employed by an OHA member or health related organization who provide advocacy for consumers of healthcare services.
  • Emeritus members - members who retire from active employment in the field represented by the society; emeritus members may not vote or hold office.
  • Associate Members – Non-voting members such as vendors, consultants, allied hospital association professionals, students, management personnel in universities and businesses affiliated with medical centers.

Leadership
The board of directors comprises the president, president-elect, secretary, treasurer, immediate past president and four board members-at-large. Working closely with the board are five standing committees - nominating, education, membership, communication and marketing. Special task forces are appointed as needed.

Annual Fall Meeting
The OSHCA 2008 fall conference will be held September 11-12 at Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio.  For more information contact OHA.
